Nephelai develops a SaaS application to help Middle Officers in 2 ways: a productivity solution to minimize late matching and fail settlements and a KPI dashboard to track KPI that matters to Operations. Our clients are investment banks, asset managers, asset servicers, hedge funds. Our users are traders, middle and back officers.

The Challenge

Middle Office teams receive hundreds of emails every day about issues related to matching and settlement from clients, brokers, custodians.

Prior to resolving a problem on a trade, one must search through the outlook mailbox to figure out what is the lastest exchange if any.

If later there is claim for a late settlement, one have trouble going through all emails to find out what happened to that particular trades that generated this claim.

In addition, the team need to work hand in hand on the same problems, and it is difficult to understand which actions were already initiated and by who.

Regulatory wise, T+1 settlement regulation is coming in 2027, adding even more pressure on team to match on time in order to avoid settlement failure penalties.

The Solution

The solution centralizes in one place all information necessary to communicate efficiently with their counterparts:

  • every email thread related to a transaction are automatically associated to the transactions thanks to Machine Learning algorithm specifically developed to resolve that problem.
  • An audit trail of every action and comment initiated by a team member
  • A complete audit trail of statuses, to understand since when it is in this state and what is the next best action to take.
  • It also detects in real time anomalies on broker SSI, which is the most classic source of settlement failure, allowing to anticipate and fix issues prior to settlement date.
