Most organisations have now experimented with large language models. They’re excellent at answering questions, generating documentation and writing code. But data projects are fundamentally different. They require an AI that understands the project’s context, the structure of enterprise data, governance standards, business terminology, and the relationships among thousands of interconnected artefacts.
That’s the problem we’re solving.
DataSync is an AI operating system for data projects. Rather than starting every conversation from scratch, it builds a living understanding of your organisation and uses that knowledge to automate the work involved in delivering complex initiatives such as Aladdin implementations, data migrations, platform transformations, regulatory programmes, enterprise data warehouses and system integrations.
One of our biggest areas of investment has been building domain knowledge for the investment management industry.
Today, DataSync has a comprehensive understanding of Aladdin and has fully mapped its data model. Alongside this, we’ve modelled many of the industry’s major market data providers, including Bloomberg, MSCI, Sustainalytics, and SIX. Combined, this represents a knowledge graph of more than 50,000 business attributes spanning over 70 investment management data entities.
This means DataSync doesn’t need to learn what an instrument, portfolio, benchmark, issuer, ESG rating or corporate action is before it can help. It already understands the relationships between these concepts and can apply that knowledge immediately when delivering your project.
The platform combines multiple specialised AI agents that work together across the entire lifecycle of a data project.
Today, DataSync can:
- Project Knowledge Generation – Analyse project documentation, databases and metadata to build a structured knowledge base that every AI agent can use.
- Data Governance – Automatically generate and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, lineage, ownership information and governance artefacts.
- Intelligent Data Mapping – Recommend mappings between source and target systems, explain the reasoning behind recommendations, identify transformation logic and highlight confidence levels.
- Business and Technical Collaboration – Translate business requirements into technical implementation artefacts, helping business and engineering teams work from the same understanding.
- Knowledge Preservation – Capture project decisions, assumptions and implementation knowledge so expertise is retained throughout the programme.
Over the coming weeks, we’re extending DataSync beyond planning and analysis into delivery itself.
Our next releases introduce AI-generated data pipelines, allowing DataSync to design and build production-ready ingestion, transformation and loading pipelines directly from its understanding of your systems, mappings and business rules.
This will be followed by self-healing data pipelines. Rather than engineers continually responding to schema changes, new source fields or evolving business requirements, DataSync detects changes, assesses their impact and automatically recommends—or executes, where approved—the updates needed to keep pipelines operating reliably.
The goal is simple: data platforms should continuously adapt rather than continuously require maintenance.
This is where DataSync differs fundamentally from general-purpose AI.
A chatbot only knows what you provide in a prompt. DataSync understands your organisation, your project, your technology landscape and your industry. It combines your organisational knowledge with a purpose-built investment management knowledge model, allowing every AI agent to make decisions using context that would otherwise take a project team months to acquire.
Our long-term vision is that every data project should have an AI delivery team working alongside the human team. AI agents will undertake the repetitive analysis, documentation, governance, mapping, engineering and operational maintenance, allowing specialists to focus on architecture, business outcomes and strategic decision-making.
We’re currently working with early adopters and would welcome conversations with firms across the Investment Association community that are looking to reduce the cost, risk and delivery time of complex data initiatives.
If you’re interested in seeing how DataSync can accelerate your next programme, I’d be delighted to arrange a demonstration.
